Summer Reading Challenge Launch

author and children in libraryCathy MacPhail joined Aberdeenshire school pupils  at Mearns Academy Community Campus to launch the Summer Reading Challenge. Laurencekirk, Marykirk, Glenbervie and Fettercairn schools enjoyed a fantastic talk by the Scottish author who was really inspirational and kept their attention when she spoke about writing and how she started.

This year’s Reading Challenge is called Amaze yourself with a Good Book! The theme has been chosen to link with Record Breakers, the national theme promoted by the Reading Agency, and aims to get young readers to explore some of the astonishing real-life achievements and world records featured in the Guinness World Records books. The challenge inspires thousands of children every summer to pick up a book and read.

Break a record this summer…Can you read up to 12 books during the summer?

Get along to your nearest library to join the Summer Reading Challenge. Lots of prizes to win and lots of books to read.
