Happy New Reading Year

Thank you all for contributing to an absolutely  brilliant 2014. We’ve seen lots of promotions and events for all our  readers and reading groups, from World Book Night in April to Book Week Scotland  in November. Once again these initiatives  have  allowed us to celebrate our love of reading, both as a nation and worldwide.MaggieGroupBalmedieBlog CrudenBayFionaBlog

We’ve met some fantastically interesting and different authors during the year, including  Peter May, Lesley Riddoch,  Shona MacLean,  Laura Marney,  Maggie Craig, Jess Smith, Fiona-Jane Brown, Esther Woolfson, Catherine Deveney to name  a few.

Our reading groups continue to flourish and get pleasure from the library service’s collection of multiple titles. At the last count there were 114 reading groups across Aberdeenshire, all using library collections and feeding back opinions  about the books they have been reading.
In the year to come, this blog will begin to be  a focus for sharing our thoughts on the books we have read.

Throughout the summer we contributed to Wealth of Reading Displaythe Commonwealth Games,  celebrating writing   from as many Commonwealth countries as possible with the Wealth of Reading promotion, bringing some less well-known writers to our notice.

Here’s hoping 2015 brings more great reads and great authors to our libraries and communities. Happy Reading and Happy New Year.
