Aberdeenshire Lives in the Oxford DNB

Oxford national Dictionary of BiographyWe’ve been having a look at who had local connections in the online Oxford National Dictionary of Biography. And there are around 1200 people who have close ties with Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire through families, education, work or living there.

Take a look at Aberdeenshire Lives , a special page in the online DNB where you can link to all 1200.

There are well known people like author Lewis Grassic Gibbon and John Brown, Queen Victoria’s servant. And also some lesser well known such as Mary Sutherland or Robert Urquhart Brown

That’s quite a number out of the 58,000 people or so who are in the dictionary whch is described as the national record of men and women who have shaped British history and culture, worldwide, from the Romans to the 21st century.
